Over the holiday break I was able to put some finishing touches on a project I started working on this summer. Sun Valley is a beautiful resort destination in the Mountains of the Sawtooth National Forest. This was the first remote project I had worked on where I was 2500 miles away. I did pretty much all of the virtual design online. I started working with a really nice contractor and we were able to pull the project off with only a few hitches.
The fireplace to this townhouse looked lonely to me when I first viewed the property last spring. I started sketching my vision to make the fireplace the focal point of the room. I wanted to make the property feel cabin cozy but with a modern feel.
When I look at the after picture I truly appreciate each piece of art hung on the wall. I installed all of the art and the very top one was a little scary because I didn’t have a tall ladder:-) The fireplace was converted to gas and with a push of a switch it lights up. It’s nice after a long day of skiing, biking or fishing to cozy up and relax next to the fire.
I then started focusing on the spacious loft. After building an additional wall we were able to give the area more privacy. I decided to have the wood on the wall taken off and by doing this the vaulted ceiling created an airy space.
By enclosing the side wall we were able to place a USB receptacle in the wall outlet, which is nice when you’re trying to get some work finished. I also wanted to place a large piece of wall art on the outside wall facing the kitchen. I found this piece with birch trees and it fit right into the setting of the area.
Thanks for letting me share this fun project with you. I’m hoping to do more work in the future in the Sun Valley area. XX, Shannon
