Does your space overwhelm you when it comes to accessories? If you answered “YES” you are not alone. Most of the people I work with are at a loss when it comes to accessorizing. It’s the last piece of their puzzle. Accessories give your room a personality and a glimpse into the people who live in the space. Add some conversational pieces to your space by displaying your favorite picture, a vase you’ve inherited or a piece you purchased on a trip with friends. All of these pieces make your space unique and distinguish it from looking like a model home.
The picture above is a dining space I worked on with a client who has fabulous taste. We found an antique iron gate that was made into a mirror and placed it on the wall to reflect the warm light from the chandelier. Also, I wanted to find a crisp, updated version of a ginger jar lamp which would pop from the navy walls. We then started working on the alternate dining wall. We framed six watercolor botanicals with Larson-Juhl frames. Each of these accessories personalized this formal dining room and created an inviting space to entertain.
Next time you look around your space and feel overwhelmed give it a whirl and start accessorizing one wall at a time.
