I hope all of you are having happy holidays. This year I really tried to soak in every aspect about the season. It was wonderful to have my parents in DC for Christmas. They were able to celebrate most likely the last year of Santa with my daughter (our days are numbered having a believer in this house). Bah Humbug!
I always get a little emotional when I take close friends or family to the airport so I decided to stay busy today. I tackled taking down all of the holiday decorations. Our house always seems so bare and a little dreary once the decorations come down.
The bright side of having everything boxed away is it allows you to evaluate how your family uses the space in your home. Do you want to make some changes for 2015 in your living space? I always like to spice up the furniture and accessory arrangement in my house this time of year.
Also, winter is the perfect time to hit the home furnishing store sales. Contractors and designers tend to be slower in January. If you’re moving boxes of decorations why not consider rearranging your furniture while you have the extra help? It’s also the perfect time to change your wall color. Painters are usually a little slower this time of year, too!
If you have the post-holiday blues maybe it’s time to change some things up in your house to get you through the winter months. Here is to wishing you the best in 2015!
