Over the past couple of years the british have influenced so much in the design world. I’m not sure if it’s our love affair with Katherine and William, or because of Downton Abbey addicts. We’re seeing fabrics and frames pop up in so many classic styles but with a flare of modern added to the picture.
The Chesterfield sofa is all the rage. You’re seeing the traditional frame appear in all sorts of fun fabrics. This sofa makes me want to curl up and read a good book. Some of my favorite go-to manufactures for this frame style are Lexington Furniture, Hickory Chair, and Century Furniture. The Chesterfield is a CLASSIC and will be with you for years to come. I would splurge and spend a little more for this frame style. The cheaper sofa frames do not have as much padding and tend to be harder, so be careful! The original sofas date back to the 1700’s and were designed with leather.
Don’t you love this sweet little bench from Drexel Heritage? I could see this beauty on the set of Downton.
Also, Kravet has some beautiful classic fabrics. Take a look at their new Windsor Smith Collection. I love the Frett design on this fabric.
