Quatrefoil | Shannon Bieter Interiors

One of my favorite architectural ornaments is a quatrefoil, which is pronounced “cat er foil” and looks like this: Quatrefoil-Architectural-alternate.   I started appreciating these Gothic motifs while working in the Event Office at Duke University.  Everywhere I walked on campus, one of these four-leaf clovers or petals would pop up on a door or window.  They always put a smile on my face.

As I’ve discovered, it seems a lot of other people like them too.  A few years ago, I was at the annual designer market in High Point, North Carolina and noticed the same clover motifs on furniture and accessories.  The designers had incorporated that beautiful shape into their work.  Here are a few pieces I love with the quatrefoil design:
